William Steelman (born January, 1750, died March 7, 1836) married (1st) ________, and (2d) Catherine Cain (born December 31, 1786, died April 11, 1883) on July 4, 1823.

Children of the First Marriage:

1. Catherine Steelman (born ca 1774) married Thomas Whitlock on April 2, 1794 (bond).
   
2. Charles Steelman (born ca 1776) married Mary Herrold on January 25, 1797(bond).
   

Child of the Second Marriage:

1. William Steelman, Jr. (born August 31, 1826, died March 3, 1852) married Emma Adaline Hawkins (born ca 1835) ca 1850. He resided in Rowan and Davie Counties, North Carolina.

He resided in Rowan and Surry Counties, North Carolina. After the death of William Steelman, the portion of Rowan County where he resided became part of the newly formed Davie County.
